About Sydney The City
Sydney is a huge city – something like 4.5 million people reside in the metro area of Sydney. Nearby are greater metro areas such as; Central Coast, Wollongong, Newcastle and The Blue Mountains. It’s also only a 3 hour drive to Canberra the nation’s capital city in the ACT.

Notable landmarks include – The Sydney Harbour Bridge – The Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Tower. All surrounding the Port Jackson and CBD. Sydney is dotted with many well known beach spots such as Manly Beach and Bondi Beach, plus many beachside eating and talking places like Dee Why and Clovelly beaches.

Busy Sydney – if you live in Sydney you may well be paying a much higher rental rate than other cities in Australia or you could have a bigger mortgage to cover and find yourself working longer hours to simply live. As far as income goes, Melbourne people actually earn more than Sydney-siders do and have a lower cost of living.

Sydney Morning Herald – Friday edition see the Metro Guide on Saturday read the Spectrum Section – both of these are lift out sections and easy to retain. Plus they also have a classified ad column called “Singles Scene” with plenty of ads from singles events organizers.

Daily Telegraph – also has a singles scene section in the main classifieds, although you will need to look for it.

Local Newspapers – in each suburban area you’ll find local free newspapers to look at and there are many around including several in the CBD that are handed out at train and bus stations.

What Else Can You Do?
There are many Evening Colleges in Sydney that have meeting people opportunities for you. (See www.courses.com.au ) for more details in your location.

Sydney is big on New Year’s Eve at the harbour and also celebrates Australia Day with just as much vigour – these events mark many opportunities for you to mix and mingle and make many new contacts and friends – even if you don’t get to go to them, they are celebrated in parties or by watching TV in the suburbs. So they hard to miss for the average Sydney local.

Learn About Sydney on a Social Walk
I’ve been holding Scenic Walks and Art Walks in the Suburbs of Sydney since February 2007. We normally have about 5 to 15 people on each walk and the walks are easy, short with many stops and educational. It’s a great way to mix mingle and meet new people in Sydney. Often about 2 or 3 walks are held each month on either a Saturday (art walk) or a Sunday (a scenic walk) we finish the walks at a coffee lounge for extra time to converse and network, plus unlike a bush walk, these walks are less than 3kms on average and many are around suburban locations. Singles Dinners in Sydney

Sydney Weather
Sydney has mild winters, but still they can be cold. Summers are semi tropical and can be very hot indeed. Humidity is a big concern for the working population during summer months and if you are on the train or a bus, you’ll be aware that sweating before you get to work is a problem in those months. What makes up the difference is going to a beach side café or restaurant after work to enjoy the sea breezes which are simply great.
